When Do Persian Cats Shed and How to Care for Them?

Persian cats typically experience significant shedding during the spring and autumn seasons. In autumn, they grow thicker fur to keep warm, while in spring, they shed their thick winter coat to prepare for the summer heat. Additionally, around three months of age, Persian kittens replace their fine baby fur with a more robust coat.
During shedding, Persian cats require extra care:
  1. Regular Grooming: Frequent brushing is essential to remove loose hair and prevent matting. This reduces the risk of hairballs and keeps the coat healthy.
  2. Balanced Diet: Provide nutrient-rich foods like egg yolk, bone broth, and goat milk. Include pet – specific nutritional supplements to support healthy fur growth. Avoid overly salty or greasy foods.
  3. Keep Warm: Persian cats are sensitive to temperature changes. Provide warm bedding and consider clothing to help them stay comfortable during shedding.
By following these tips, you can help your Persian cat through shedding periods, ensuring they stay healthy and comfortable.
