Is It Normal for Cats to Have Diarrhea After Eating Hairball Paste?

It’s not normal for cats to have diarrhea after eating hairball paste. If your cat has diarrhea but hasn’t overeaten, it’s likely that the paste isn’t suitable for it. Here are some ways to help your cat:
  1. Adjust Your Cat’s Diet
    • Help your cat pass some hair by adjusting its diet. Feed it easily digestible foods like apples and bananas. Offering millet porridge as a main dish is also a good choice. Additionally, provide yogurt and honey water to aid in hair excretion, but limit the amount to prevent diarrhea.
  2. Feed Cat Grass
    • Cat grass is a common plant that helps cats expel hairballs and is easy to grow. If your cat has ingested a lot of hair, cat grass can help it vomit out the hair. If your cat reacts poorly to cat grass or needs more help, consider feeding it hairball paste.
  3. Brush Your Cat’s Fur
    • Regular brushing reduces the amount of dead hair your cat ingests. Use a special comb to brush your cat daily, following the direction of hair growth. This helps prevent your cat from swallowing too much hair and benefits its coat health.
